About the Interview

You will participate in a 60-minute online interview about your experiences and thoughts about phone theft. No specialized knowledge is required. We want to hear what you think.

Example Questions

  • What do you generally use your smartphone for?
  • Can you describe the incident which led to you losing your smartphone?
  • Did you seek any advice or help? Why/why not?

Data Handling

Your data will be stored and evaluated anonymously. You are free to withdraw from this interview at any time without penalty. All partial data will be deleted. To ensure the ethics of our research, we designed it to conform to the principles described in the Menlo Report and obtained approval from the Ethical Review Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Saarland University, Germany.

In more detail: After welcoming and informing you about the interview structure, we will ask for your consent to record the online interview. After the interview has been finished, we will transcribe the recording to text. At this point, the recording will be deleted, and every identifying information in the transcript will be removed. We will store the anonymized transcript in encrypted form in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on the servers of the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security, Germany.
